Serial ATA 3.0 has recently been released. Whats this mean for you, the average consumer? Well faster data transfer speeds from your hard drives. If you have a SSD (Solid State Drive) you will see more of the capabilities of your drive. Speeds closer to what they can really provide.
Here are some other features that PCWorld.com posted about the new standard.
* A new Native Command Queuing (NCQ) streaming command to enable isochronous data transfers for bandwidth-hungry environments
* An NCQ Management feature that optimizes performance by enabling host processing and management of outstanding NCQ commands
* Improved power management capabilities
* A small Low Insertion Force (LIF) connector for more compact 1.8-inch storage devices
* A connector designed to accommodate 7mm optical disk drives for thinner and lighter notebooks
And don’t worry Manufacturers, you don’t have to worry. SATA 3.0 is backwards compatible via a new connector provided to allow for your current 2.0 hardware to work.

Multiple sources are stating the next version of Windows will be released Oct. 22nd of 2009. Yea, this year! Cool huh. Other rumors state that for anyone who owns Windows Vista Ultimate will receive a free update to Windows 7. Some of those same sources claim that to qualify, you must purchase Vista Ultimate after June 26th of 2009 and others don’t mention a date at all. So I’m not sure on the details there. However it is definite that Win7 will be released this year. Good on ya’ Microsoft.

Are used games better for the consumers and developers during our current financial struggle? I agree that the consumer obviously benefits with the price cuts on used games and consoles, however when you really think about it, it does hurt the developers revenue intake ultimately creating the developer to create games with less quality and such. And this will obviously hurt the consumer and the developer and actually the economy as well. What are your thoughts? Are retail businesses like Gamestop helping or hurting us?
